The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Brisbane or Melbourne team on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Team Lead – Mechanical Engineering, this role involves providing piping and mechanical engineering solutions to support APA’s growth strategy for gas infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in all aspects of piping design and package engineering for in-line piping and mechanical equipment.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of world-class engineering projects, including natural gas, hydrogen, CO₂-ready pipelines, and compression infrastructure. This role is integral to APA’s growth strategy and Australia’s energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering mechanical and piping engineering solutions in line with schedule and scope requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and APA policies and practices.
  • Collaborating with discipline engineers, designers, and operations stakeholders to achieve project and business goals.
  • Providing expertise in piping vibration analysis calculations and pipe stress analysis (highly advantageous).

Your Background

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of gas transmission, gas processing, or energy assets.
  • Proven experience across all project phases, from inception to completion.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to contributing across all aspects of mechanical and piping design.
