Support Vehicles Australia (SVA) is looking for a Mechanical Draftsperson to join our Engineering team.
SVA are leaders in the design and manufacturing of bespoke heavy equipment, primarily supplying the mining industry. Established in 2002, SVA has been supplying a quality product to our customers whilst providing a safe, secure and family friendly work environment to our employees.
Based in Western Australia, we are a privately owned company of 100+ staff spanning sales, engineering, supply, fabrication and welding, grit-blasting and painting, hydraulics, electrical and fitting functions. SVA have a history of innovation, and our products are well regarded in the industry.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your contributions will include but not be limited to
- Create new or modify existing 3D SolidWorks models from specifications.
- Create 2D assembly and manufacture e-drawings including DXF’s.
- Review drawings and documentation for accuracy and consistency on quality and presentation.
- Creation of accurate Bills of Materials to enable purchasing for jobs
- Undertake visual inspections throughout the workshops of equipment for continual improvement and identify potential issues.
- Assist with queries from workshops or internal engineering and provide clarification or additional information as required.
- Produce as built drawings in line with process descriptions and SVA drafting procedures.
- Ensure all documentation is being produced according to the engineering schedule.
- Responding to internal engineering requests (Engineering Job Requests – EJRs)
- Maintain and improve SVA engineering quality documentation systems
- Ensure work is consistent with SVA engineering procedures and standards
The desired applicant will have:
- Technical Qualifications – Cert 3 or Diploma Mechanical Engineering/Drafting (preferred)
- Strong knowledge and utilization of SolidWorks CAD package in a mining environment
- SolidWorks PDM professional (desirable)
- Has an appetite to learn new skills and apply them to contribute to team outcomes.
- Experience in mechanical componentry design
- Is motivated and passionate about engineering design, following process and is driven to excel in their role
- Possesses good written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Goal orientated, organised, enthusiastic, honest and reliable
- Works well in a team environment
- Great time management skills with a positive attitude towards safety, quality and good housekeeping
