About the role:

  • This role reports to the Engineering Manager
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings from customer specifications, or through approved modifications to existing products.
  • Contribute to the overall Engineering objectives, through organisation-wide directives, project deadlines and other deliverables.

In executing this role, you will…

  • Generate Bill of Materials and detailing of manufacturing drawings
  • Liaise closely with sales and manufacturing staff to ensure the work is as per customer requirements and according to industry best practices
  • Provide technical assistance to production, and fabrication as required
  • File drawings as well as maintain and update all relevant design documents
  • Participate in formal Engineering reviews, working groups, design reviews, and other forums
  • Comply with Tectonica policies, processes and instructions including those relating to safety, duty of care and the Quality Management System
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to discuss and agree on designs as well as explore improvement opportunities

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Engineering or Mechanical trade
  • 2+Years experience in the use of 3D CAD software packages, preferably SolidWorks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail and good record keeping is essential
  • Ability to estimate the required drafting hours for a specific design and manage time accordingly
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to support a team that develops creative and innovative solutions

Individuals with experience in industries such as Rail/Transport, Medical, Automotive or Commercial Electronics are encouraged to apply.
