About the role
- The role of Mechanical Design Manager – Data Centers provides technical governance and oversight of the engineering activities in these areas with a view of ensuring technical compliance is achieved and certification of the nominated Scopes of Work can be provided.
- It also provides technical leadership in the delivery of engineering solutions from initial concept to completion and verification of a nominated Scope of Work. Further responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership, direction, supervision and inspirational management to all team members (direct & indirect).
- Ensure a high-quality outcome by utilising a common approach to design templates, interface management, design deliverables, reporting and delivery program management
- Ensure interaction by the mechanical team with the internal and external Interface and Integration teams.
- Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design.
- Prepare and maintain the Design Plan for the duration of the project while ensuring that the design conforms to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements.
- Participate in self-perform discipline team leader meetings and provide feedback to the electrical discipline through team meetings.
- Reporting as required by management.
- Management of technical reviews throughout procurement cycle, ensuring the most appropriate equipment selection in consideration of technical, commercial, space constraints.
About You
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with a strong ability to negotiate and influence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands but at the same time manage large teams
- Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 10 years’ experience in design management within Data Centre or Building Services Projects
- Chartered professional engineer.
