Description

Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join our expanding Oil & Gas Operations APAC (West) team in Perth. This is a 9-month contract position with potential to be extended, due to the recently securing several large projects with existing clients, which includes sustainability projects such as CCS.


Wood’s “Operations” APAC West business delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimization, and technical services to the Oil & Gas industry and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region’s most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Southeast Asia.


 



Responsibilities

You will be reporting directly to the Construction & Commissioning Manager, supporting the Lead Commissioning Engineer and will perform a full range of site-based commissioning, guide complex testing activities, resolve technical queries, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across multiple projects.


Your scope responsibilities will be:



  • Assist with the safe and timely preparation and execution of the commissioning work scope in adherence with project HSEQ safety targets, procedures and practices

  • Ensure commissioning is carried out in accordance with project schedules and budget

  • Actively participate in all company and project safety initiatives

  • Ensure the accurate transition of engineering deliverables to commissioning 

  • Coordinate with personnel onshore 



Qualifications

You will be an Australian citizen or hold Permanent Residency (PR) and able to work lawfully in Australia.


Ideally you will be suitably qualified engineer` from a recognized institution or tertiary qualification will also be considered along with 5+ years of proven experience in Commissioning in the Oil & Gas sector in Australia.


In addition, you will have:



  • A demonstrated commitment to safety 

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills – both written and verbal 

  • Previous experience in a role of construction and commissioning engineering and coordination working in a project multidisciplined team

  • Strong technical expertise in piping, vessels and rotating equipment installation, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning

  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering programs

  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure, while delivering within a challenging and complex environment 

  • A “solutions mindset” embracing innovation and an agile approach to project delivery and team leadership
