THE POSITION:
To maintain and repair AlburyCity plant, vehicles and equipment as directed. 



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform services in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specified scheduled service regimes 
  • Undertake repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance including on-site repairs 
  • Accurately complete fleet service records. 
  • Perform mobile maintenance and repair services. 
  • Perform on-site refuelling of Council plant and equipment 
  • Road test motor vehicles and plant to check and verify quality of services and or repairs 
  • Maintain all Workshop tools and equipment in a safe and mechanically reliable condition. 
  • Undertake complex diagnostic testing to ascertain mechanical/electrical functionality issues 
  • Utilise computer software for fleet management, document management, plant assessment and fleet risk assessment. 
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training. 
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS. 
  • Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity’s Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity’s Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: 

  • Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor. 
  • This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. 
  • This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
  • This position will be required to be on call outside normal working hours on a roster basis. This will be in agreement with the supervisor and will attract the appropriate allowance. 
  • In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance. 
  • This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases: 
    • Hepatitis A
    • Hepatitis B 
  • This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
  • This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing
  • This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures 
  • This position is located at the Albury Depot, Wodonga Place, and Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building 553 Kiewa St as required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

  • Current Motor Vehicle Repair Certificate (MVRIC) or equivalent 
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)

DESIRABLE CRITERIA: 

  • Diesel engine training 
  • Welding certificate 
  • RTA licenced Vehicle Inspector 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant heavy vehicle mechanical experience 

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • In depth knowledge and competency in; 
    • Automotive Engineering preferably including Diesel engines 
    • Mechanical principles
    • Automotive Electrical
    • In Static hydraulic pumps and devices
    • Mechanical hydraulics
    • Manual Handling
    • Plan/Diagrammatic Interpretation 
  • Ability to use compressed air equipment and small hand tools 
  • Ability to use small plant items 
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software and reporting systems 
  • Fundamental communication and literacy skills
