About the role:
This position is located at our Yennora (NSW) site and is scheduled on the afternoon shift, operating from Sunday to Thursday, 2:15pm to 10:15pm. Occasional flexibility may be required to work alternative shifts in support of team operations, with sufficient notice provided.
The Maintenance Fitter/Turner is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving mechanical plant equipment and production machinery in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities but not limited too:
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on mechanical systems, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and packaging equipment.
- Manufacture and fit replacement parts using lathes, milling machines, and other tools.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Install new equipment, ensuring proper mechanical fit and alignment with production requirements.
- Collaborate with electricians and operators to optimize machine performance.
- Interpret and work from mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, parts used, and maintenance history.
Skills & Experience:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Turning) or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an FMCG, food manufacturing.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills & competent in the use of workshop machinery and hand/power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagram and schematics.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts or respond to breakdowns after hours if required.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting automated and mechatronic equipment.
- Knowledge of Siemens Automation products (PLC, HMI, Drives) is highly regarded.
- Experience with pneumatic systems and components.
