THE ROLE

With our growing operations in prominent Hill an exciting opportunity exists for a reliable, experienced Maintenance Fitter to become part of the Hallett Group team!

As a FIFO Maintenance fitter you will work on either a dayshift or nightshift, 2 weeks on/2 week off roster. It is also important that you are a team player, take pride in maintaining your equipment and have the people skills to deal with any issues that arise on busy sites. To be successful in this role you will have an uncompromising commitment to safety, enjoy working in a small team, be flexible and approachable and feel pride in doing a good job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Performing plant and process inspections including the diagnostic and repairs of mechanical and electrical faults in engines and components
  • Removal and repairs to engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and inspection of parts
  • Removal and replacement of worn and defective components and reassembling mechanical components
  • Performing scheduled maintenance services, fluid and filter changes, mechanical inspections and engine tune-ups, to achieve efficient running of vehicles and ensure compliance with emission regulations
  • Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
  • diagnosing and testing procedures with the assistance of Scan tools
  • Fixed plant repairs & maintenance
  • Safe operation of power tools, including Welding (Oxy, TIG, MIG, Electric Arc)
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, Identifying and reporting hazards

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Trade Cert III in the manufacturing or maintenance fitting with proven experience in a maintenance/repair type role
  • Committed to working safety, assessing risk and putting appropriate controls in place
  • Experience working on and servicing on heavy plant and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in hydraulics and pneumatics preferred
  • Electrical system diagnoses and repairs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Willing to undertake pre-employment functional assessment and drug and alcohol testing
  • Current & valid drivers licence
  • EWP ticket highly regarded
