As a Maintenance Fitter / Production Technician, your role is crucial in ensuring smooth and efficient production operations. Your expertise will be key in delivering exceptional product quality and performance by focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, routine inspections and repairs, training on a variety of semi and fully automated injection moulding and packaging equipment and robotic adjustments. Mechatronic experience and a comprehensive understanding of machinery are highly valued to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include: -

  • Diagnose faults and repair equipment or process failures promptly to minimise downtime
  • Maintain equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production operations
  • Responsible for the machine and robotic adjustments
  • Set up machines including die changes
  • Develop and support proposals to increase machine capacity and throughput
  • Follow planned maintenance activities which include being actively involved in maintenance planning, plant improvements and projects that will improve plant availability and efficiency
  • Maintain computerised systems to guard against production delays or shut-down of systems
  • Ensure compliance with site quality and HACCP
  • Communicate and escalate issues across shifts to provide updates or solutions to the broader maintenance and operation groups
  • Assist in training and upskilling the broader production team
  • We will provide ‘On-the-job’ training on all our equipment, as well as specialised training from our equipment suppliers.

 

About You:  The successful applicant will have the following: -

  • Australian Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Automation (Recent trade completion is ideal)
  • Strong Mechanical/Electrical service and repair knowledge including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Previous experience working in an environment that utilises high-speed packaging equipment including injection moulding, IML and packaging machines will be highly regarded
  • Experience with automation and robotics will be highly regarded
  • A genuine interest in automation and technology, with the aptitude to learn new concepts and procedures
  • Knowledge of business operations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Knowledge of ISO and HACCP principles
  • Strong team player and customer-focused
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-manage time effectively
  • Computer literate in MS Office programs
  • Focused on achieving results
  • Current Forklift licence (and if you don’t have one, we’ll support you in getting one)
