The Role

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Maintenance Fitter who can work autonomously with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance and be able to identify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime. If you have a mechanical trade qualification, experience in a fast-paced food and beverage processing environment, and excellent problem-solving skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops

  • Inspect, test, and maintain machinery and equipment in process and packaging areas

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on general plant and building maintenance work

  • Install and commission new equipment

  • Undertake specific project work, such as building prototypes and refurbishing aging equipment

  • Conduct machine/product changeovers

  • Prioritise breakdown and PM activities within the weekly schedule

  • Perform tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, or their designates

We're looking for someone with:

  • Mechanical trade qualification (minimum Certificate III or equivalent)

  • Experience in a fast-paced food and beverage processing environment (FMCG)

  • Understanding of computerised maintenance management systems

  • Site services experience (steam boilers, air compressors, wastewater treatment plants)

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and spare parts manuals

  • Practical mechanical experience in the usage of hand and power tools

  • Welding experience (MAW and TIG welding highly desired)

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Hands-on approach and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

  • Eligibility to work in Australia

Desirable:

  • Forklift license

  • Confined space entry license

  • Work at Heights training

  • Experience with automation or robotics

  • Computer skills (Microsoft suite, computerised maintenance management system)
