If you want to join a team that is big enough to support you, but not too big that you’re just a number, then keep reading…
Stop chasing overdue invoices or breaking your back lifting heavy LVLs. Start enjoying company BBQs, job security, and a manageable workload.
After we watched Chippa sail off into retirement after 17 years of service, and Ben be promoted to Site Management for commercial projects, we’re looking to recruit a couple new Maintenance Carpenters or general Handymans to join our Maintenance Operatives team.
About the role:
You'll be joining our Asset Services department led by workforce Operations Manager (and Port Supporter…) Paul Wightman. The team consist of a bunch of mixed trades backgrounds who undertake maintenance work across our core client groups including Defence, Childcares, Schools, Councils and Australia Post. Depending on your background and skills, a typical day might include patching a wall, hanging a door, tiling a splashback or topping up a sand pit.
Here are a few things we think will make you ideal for this role:
- Trade background in carpentry or joinery are preferred, but previous history of building maintenance is highly valued.
- You’re accountable for your work and complete jobs with a sense of pride.
- Hold a current drivers licence.
- Hold or be able to obtain a Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
- Display good communication skills.
Although not essential, it would be great if you have:
- First Aid Certificate.
- Working at Heights Ticket.
- Elevated Work Platform Ticket.
Here are some reasons why we hope you'll love working for us:
- Company vehicle
- Optional working away opportunities
- Career advancement through to Project Supervision or Site Management
- Personal Bunnings discount card.
- Exclusive staff discounts at over 400+ retailers
- Onsite gym facility
- Discounted Health Insurance
- Training and development to support your career
- Peer recognition program
- Employee Assistance Program
- Salary sacrifice options
- Guest speakers to support personal interests – financial planning advice
- Job security
- Fundraising initiatives
- Staff events
And here are four reasons why we're afraid you might not:
- We use a bit of technology including for your timesheets, you don’t need to be a computer wiz but you’ll need to be prepared to learn a new system or two.
- If you're interested in large project carpentry or lots of work on construction sites, we have other roles for that, and our Maintenance Operative is not your ideal fit.
- If you're not prepared to roll up your sleeves and work as a team to get the job done, then this isn't the role for you.
- We rely on trust and independence, we're not into micro-management or hand holding. If you find it hard to take ownership and be held accountable, we're probably not the best choice for you.
