The Role

An opportunity exists at SRG Global for a self-motivated and “hands on” Machinist to work as an integral part of the team based at Canning Vale site, to assist in the preparation of test samples, maintenance and repair of the facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation of band saws, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder and cut off saw to prepare standard test samples
  • Operation of flame cutting apparatus and angle grinder to remove samples from various components
  • Forklift operator
  • Overhead crane operator
  • Dogging & Rigging qualification (training can be provided if not ticketed)
  • Operator of welding apparatus
  • Read and machine from technical information and drawings
  • Design and manufacture simple jigs and fixtures for testing purposes
  • Service and maintain workshop equipment, i.e. service general machinery as per operator industry standards
  • Continuous improvement of machining practices
  • Keep machines and immediate work area tidy and clean from oils, dirt and swarf
  • Enthusiastically participate in workshop Safety and HSE practices and standards

The successful applicant will ideally have:

Ideally you will have experience in a similar role and take pride in your work, as well as:

  • Trade Certificate Machining or Mechanical Fitters
  • Manual lathe and mill experience
  • Be prepared to work overtime if required
  • Adhere to SRG Global Safety Practices at all times
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Strong computer and systems skills and knowledge
