About the Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to enhance customer confidence with HBT facilities, improving prime product and parts sales, and ensuring HBT delivers on its commitments for engineered-to-order (ETO) and capital projects.

The Longwall Specialist’s Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting longwall facilities in delivering high-quality products
  • Providing technical advice during overhauls, repairs and capital builds.
  • Assisting with planning and execution of overhauls and repairs.
  • Offering advice for continuous improvement of business and workshop processes.
  • Providing written recommendations for future overhaul scope based on equipment condition.
  • Providing input into planning and execution of machine assembly, compatibility testing, and factory acceptance testing at HBT facilities.
  • Overseeing the execution of engineered-to-order (ETO) projects, ensuring they meet scheduling, budget and quality requirements.
  • Supporting the project management team with the execution of large capital projects.
  • Sourcing components from local suppliers.
  • Monitoring activities at HBT’s manufacturing facilities to ensure quality and adherence to build schedules.
  • Providing technical guidance to HBT manufacturing facilities during equipment manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

About you:

Qualifications:

  • A trade qualification or university degree, ideally in a manufacturing or workshop-related field, highly regarded.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge in the assembly, testing, and overhauling of longwall equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and implement complex technical information and make recommendations for improvement.

Previous Knowledge & Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in roles related to manufacturing, assembly, or testing of longwall equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of longwall products, including overhauls, manufacturing, assembly, and quality standards.
  • Experience working with operations facilities.
  • Experience in managing capital projects and/or engineered-to-order (ETO) projects.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to address sensitive issues, influence others, and drive actions inside and outside the business unit.
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of the manufacturing and assembly processes for longwall equipment.
  • High-level problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and implement continuous improvements.
