The Role

We are seeking experienced and motivated Leading Hand Heavy Duty Mechanics to provide expertise and mentorship to an innovative team of Trades staff responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of our modern Heavy Mobile Fleet!. We have a 15 days and nights, 13 off Fly-In Fly-Out roster on offer from Perth to Leonora (Residential or Drive-in Drive-Out options from regional centres), the choice is yours!

Key Responsibilities include:

• Preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and unplanned repairs on Hitachi, Komatsu, and Caterpillar mining equipment
• Provide technical expertise in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems for heavy mobile equipment
• Work closely with maintenance supervisors to coordinate scheduled maintenance and repair activities
• Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OEM standards and GMS work management procedure and regulatory mining regulations
• Foster a safety-first culture by promoting best practice
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency and equipment reliability.

About you

Collaboration is key! You will be a natural leader who can inspire and motivate your team, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure to resolve day to day challenges. You will also have the following: 

• Trade Qualification in Heavy Duty Mechanics, Diesel Fitting, or Mechanical Fitting
• Extensive experience working on Hitachi excavators (EX2000, EX2600, EX1200), Komatsu HD1500 haul trucks, and Caterpillar ancillary equipment.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a maintenance team
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems in a mining environment
• Ability to work flexibly in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Understanding of WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations and commitment to high safety standards
• Additional qualifications such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, Forklift, EWP, Rigging & Dogging tickets will be highly regarded
