About the role


As a Landscaping Trade Assistant, you will maintain all gardens, surrounding landscape, drains and beaches throughout the resort. You’ll keep our landscape looking lush and vibrant. With naturally high standards to support our own, you’ll approach every task with devotion and pride.


 


Your day to day


In this role, you will maintain the gardens, surrounding landscapes, and guest areas, ensuring they remain lush and vibrant. You’ll organize supplies and prepare equipment for the next day, all while completing tasks efficiently and adhering to high safety standards by reporting any incidents or unsafe conditions. As a friendly face to both guests and coworkers, you will perform various duties such as mowing, planting, and weeding, while keeping your duty manager informed about supply levels and looking smart and approachable in your uniform.


 


What we need from you


The ideal candidate will have a solid background in landscaping, horticulture, and garden maintenance, along with a Queensland safety induction White Card. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, and reporting tools such as HotSoS and Hardcat is essential. You should possess a working knowledge of basic irrigation and plant care, as well as experience with building equipment and hand tools. Physical fitness is important, as the role requires being on your feet for most of the day, with frequent bending and kneeling. Additionally, you must have a valid Queensland driver’s license to comply with local laws for driving around the resort. Strong communication skills are a must, and fluency in English is required to ensure you are warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to.


Intended commencement date for this position would be the 9th of December 2024, with the role being located on Hayman Island, Queensland.


Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.


 


What we offer


The base hourly rate for this position is $28.54 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
