THE POSITION:
The position will be part of a team that plays an important role in Facilitating the management, design, maintenance and installation of irrigation and telemetry systems within AlburyCity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist in the design. Installation and commissioning of the City's irrigation systems 
• Assist in the maintenance and management of the City's irrigation telemetry system. 
• Facilitate breakdown and routine maintenance of the City's manual and automatic sprinkler systems. 
• Adjust water cycles in consultation with the Leading Hands.  
• Assist in the delivery of the yearly irrigation maintenance program 
• Assist in the preparation of budgets for irrigation projects or irrigation elements of larger projects 
• Arrange plant, equipment and materials as required to execute works. 
• Assist in managing contractors on small to medium scale irrigation projects 
• Assist in liaising with stakeholders and suppliers in line with AlburyCity’s Customer Service Charter.
• Assist in the maintenance of the City’s Parks, Reserves and landscaped areas.
• Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner and ensure all routine maintenance to plant and equipment is carried out.
• Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.
• Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: 

• Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.  
• This position may involve work outside normal working hours. Additional hours over the standard 38 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor. 
• In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance. 
• This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases: 
  • Hepatitis A 
  • Hepatitis B 
• This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. 
• This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this  
• This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing
• This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures
• This position is located at the City Landscapes depot, Smollett Street Albury with visits to external sites/depots as required. 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

• Relevant industry experience in irrigation or related field 
• Class C (Standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)  
• Construction induction card

DESIRABLE CRITERIA: 

• Certificate II Urban irrigation
• Plumbing licence
• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence
• Certificate in Backflow Prevention 
• Certificate III Turf management
• Apply Traffic Control Plans & Traffic Controller Certification (Yellow & Blue Card) or equivalent certification
• Prepare a Work zone Traffic Management Plan certification (Orange Card)

EXPERIENCE: 

• Demonstrated relevant working experience in the irrigation/horticulture industry with specialised knowledge of the implementation and operation of Irrigation Systems.
