ABOUT THE COMPANY

Alphacool is a locally owned family business with 90 staff across HVAC-R, Electrical, and Plumbing divisions. Our customer base is made up of large Supermarkets, Government, Marine, Industrial, Commercial and Domestic clients.

Main duties and responsibilities:


  • Business Development & Quoting

  • Work with Management to meet KPIs & Business Targets

  • Management of technicians to ensure business targets are met

  • Provide outstanding customer service and solutions to clients, ensuring a high level of communication is maintained at all times- responding to customer enquiries via email and phone

  • Resolve and attend to customer questions in relation to quotes and after sales enquiries

  • Order and organise materials for installation jobs and repair work

  • Prepare weekly updates and sales pipeline reports

  • Assisting with office personal eg; WIP, technical repair quotes,

  • Assisting service coordinators with queries and projects

  • Weekly site & OHS safety site visits

  • Participating in Toolbox and Pre start meetings

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the HVAC-R team, including assigning tasks, scheduling work, and ensuring timely completion of projects.

  • Troubleshoot complex HVAC-R problems and provide guidance and support to technicians in diagnosing and resolving issues.

  • Follow all site safety requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing management of all stakeholders

  • Keeping the project resourced with plant, supplies and materials

  • Monitoring productivity and providing feedback

  • Ensure safety for yourself and others in the workplace, engage in an effective and proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture.

  • Provides advice and guidance on HVAC-R issues, supervision of the continuous evaluation and repair of HVAC-R equipment as well as to the installation, replacement, inspection, adjustment, repair and routine cleaning to HVAC-R and controlled environmental systems

  • Retain familiarity and knowledge of various valves, pumps, air controls and handling units, coils, compressors, condensers, pipes, pneumatic and electrical controls, pressure gauges.

  • Provides training and guidance to the work crews to improve competence and work performance.

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of HVAC-R systems, other technicians, work crews and for carrying out skilled tasks in accordance with best practices.

  • Conduct regular inspections of site and HVAC-R systems to identify potential problems and recommend preventive maintenance measures.

  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise and recommendations.

  • Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in HVAC systems to ensure the team's skills and knowledge are up to date.

  • Manage inventory of HVAC equipment, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled projects and repairs.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of work orders, equipment maintenance, and service history.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for the team.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education/Certification:

  • Certificate III in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Essential (all must be valid):


  • Valid Driverโ€™s Licence

  • ARCTIC licence

  • Electrical licence (Restricted- QLD)

  • QBCC Mechanical Services Licence

  • LVR & CPR

  • Construction White card

  • Elevated Work Platform

  • Working at Heights

  • Asbestos Awareness


Knowledge, skills & ability:


  • Proven experience as an HVAC-R technician, with at least 3-5 years of experience in commercial and residential HVAC systems.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, demonstrating the ability to manage and guide a team of HVAC-R technicians.

  • Proficient in using HVAC-R diagnostic tools and equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Strong technical knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including installation, repair, marine and maintenance.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose complex HVAC-R issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards related to HVAC-R systems.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and team members.

  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications related to HVAC-R systems.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of HVAC-R software and tools for diagnostics and system analysis.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Some knowledge of Microsoft office programs
