Ever feel like you're doing all the work but someone else gets to make the decisions?
You can run the calculations, spot design issues before they become site problems and understand what actually works on site. What you’re looking for now is the opportunity to take ownership of projects rather than simply supporting somebody else’s.
This role sits in that sweet spot between being supported and being trusted. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, but you’ll also be given the opportunity to make decisions, take ownership and develop into a more senior engineering role over time.
This established mechanical contractor delivers projects across industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, laboratories and other specialised environments where standard HVAC solutions don’t always fit. One of the engineers in the team joined from a consultancy background and says the biggest difference is seeing projects through from concept to construction rather than handing them over and walking away.
You’ll be involved from early design through to project delivery, producing HVAC designs and calculations, coordinating drawings, attending client meetings and supporting projects through construction. You’ll be expected to think commercially, solve problems and develop practical engineering solutions that balance performance, buildability and cost.
Projects move quickly here. If you enjoy momentum, autonomy and making decisions, you’ll probably like the environment. If you need multiple layers of review and approval before acting, you probably won’t.
We’re open to engineers from either mechanical contracting or building services consultancy backgrounds. You’ll need Australian HVAC design experience, knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC, confidence using engineering software and digital systems, and a practical approach to problem solving.
The salary range is $130,000 - $140,000 + super. You'll have genuine project ownership, support from an experienced Engineering Manager and exposure to projects that are technically worth your time.
Applicants must currently be based in Australia and hold unrestricted Australian working rights.
