Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused HV Electrician to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage electrical systems and equipment across the site.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our electrical infrastructure, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous operations. With a strong focus on safety and compliance, you’ll carry out all HV-related activities in line with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of HV equipment and systems

• Carry out HV switching operations in accordance with approved procedures and permits

• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults and provide effective resolutions

• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and testing (e.g., insulation resistance, earth testing)

• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with electrical codes, legislation, and safety standards

• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs via CMMS or manual logs

• Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and contractors to coordinate HV activities

• Participate in safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and risk assessments

Qualifications and Skills

• Licensed Electrician with HV Switching Accreditation

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in HV electrical work, ideally in [mining/utilities/construction/renewables]

• Proven understanding of HV protection systems, switchgear, transformers, and substations

• Competency in testing and fault-finding high voltage systems

• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and legislation (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067)

• Valid Driver’s License

• Additional tickets (desirable): CPR/LVR, Working at Heights, EWP, Confined Space
