HME Tyre Fitter

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Vehicle Tyre Fitter to join our maintenance team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the inspection, repair, fitting, and replacement of tyres on a range of heavy vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety in compliance with site and manufacturer standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Remove, fit, balance, and rotate tyres on heavy vehicles and machinery (e.g., haul trucks, loaders, graders)

• Conduct regular inspections of tyres for wear, damage, and inflation levels.

• Repair punctures and damage using appropriate methods and materials.

• Operate tyre-handling tools and equipment, including jacks, tyre handlers, and inflation cages.

• Maintain accurate records of work completed, tyre usage, and stock levels.

• Adhere to all site safety procedures and risk controls, including isolation and lockout protocols.

• Report defects and assist with diagnosing tyre-related mechanical issues.

• Support the workshop team with general maintenance and other duties as required.

• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in the work area.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in tyre fitting in a heavy vehicle or mining environment.

• Current HR driver’s licence.

• High Risk Work Licence

• Tyre Fitting Certificate or equivalent (preferred)

• Familiarity with tyre pressure monitoring systems and inflation procedures

• Basic mechanical knowledge and diagnostic ability

• Ability to safely operate and maintain tyre fitting tools and machinery.
