Position Summary

The Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Auto Electrician is responsible for performing electrical diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a range of heavy mobile mining equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of equipment used in production and support activities across the mine site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems on heavy mobile equipment, including trucks, loaders, graders, drills, and excavators
  • Carry out scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities to minimise downtime
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in vehicle electrical systems, including starters, alternators, lighting, battery systems, wiring harnesses, and control modules
  • Maintain and calibrate mine-specific systems such as GPS, telemetry, proximity detection, and fire suppression systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Complete detailed service reports and maintenance documentation using site systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto)
  • Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and site specifications, with a strong focus on safety and quality
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance planners, supervisors, and other trades to prioritise tasks and share knowledge
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
  • Identify and report defects or potential issues to prevent unplanned breakdowns

Qualifications and Skills

• Trade-qualified Auto Electrician (Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent)

• Australian-recognised Automotive Electrical Licence

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role within a mining or heavy industrial environment

• Experience with major OEM equipment (Hitachi)

• Current Driver’s Licence (HR desirable)

• Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, or other high-risk licences (desirable)

• Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP, Pronto) is an advantage
