Mort & Co Service Centre operating out of Pittsworth, Queensland, specialises in Heavy Vehicle maintenance and repairs. The team provide timely, high-quality maintenance and repairs for our robust Mort & Co Transport fleet and also service the broader agricultural and transport industry.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to Join our Service Centre team as a Workshop Leading Hand. This permanent full-time position will be responsible for:
- Ensure fleet vehicles and equipment are maintained in accordance with agreed standards, and facilities are kept in a clean and safe working order.
- Diagnose problems with fleet vehicles and equipment and complete necessary routine maintenance to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation in accordance with Mort & Co Transport scheduling, and Workplace Health and Safety, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Support the Manager (Workshop) in providing direction to and supervision to Mechanics and contractors
- Provide on-the-job training and feedback to Employees.
- Support the Manager (Workshop) with the day to day running of the workshop.
ABOUT YOU
The Key Criteria Include:
- A Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport).
- In depth mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicles including current engines, transmissions, and driveline.
- Ability to diagnose, fault find and repair vehicles, with knowledge and understanding of WHS, COR and NHVAS.
- Ability and desire to lead a small workshop and teams of skilled trades people.
- Experience in computerised maintenance management systems and in auto-electrical knowledge is desirable but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with the team, other departments and external stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate reasonable care for self and others, role model safe work practices, reporting incidents and hazards and work to proactive safety solutions.
- Valid Drivers License
