About the role

We are seeking a Handyperson to join our My Community Home Care team to assist in supporting Community Consumers to remain living independently.

As a Community Handyperson you will complete home maintenance tasks such as mowing, gardening, pruning, edging and post clean-up activities in line with the Consumers Service Plan. A typical day would see you travelling Tallangatta and surrounds to complete maintenance across a number of properties. Onsite tasks such as maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment may also be completed at the Health Service.

You will be provided with a vehicle, trailer, tools and equipment to undertake the duties of the role. Our services extend to the communities of Bellbridge, Talgarno, Granya, Tallangatta Valley, Mitta, Eskdale and Tallandoon to name a few. A basic understanding of computers or tablets will be required to ensure daily tasks are managed and recorded effectively.

Working as a handyperson within our communities requires a commonsense approach across all aspects of the role. It is expected that our values are consistently modelled, from the way you communicate with residents, to driving to the conditions of our roads.

This is a casual opportunity of approximately 1 day per fortnight and hours of work may vary between 7:00am and 4:00pm. Flexible additional hours may be required to cover sick leave, annual leave or higher workload periods.

Tallangatta Health Service is a 61 bed, small rural public health service providing a mix of acute, sub-acute, aged care residential, and community services to Tallangatta and the surrounding district. We pride ourselves on being a customer focused, progressive provider of care to our community, patients and residents with a multidisciplinary focus.

The My Community and Home Care Program at THS is funded to provide a range of services designed to support consumers to stay active, independent and living at home for as long as possible. Helping people stay active, involved and doing as much for themselves as possible is proven to help people stay more independent with a greater sense of wellbeing. This is the approach we take in conducting our daily activities.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in home maintenance, mowing/ edging and plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Adaptable to change and flexibility to approach new tasks
  • Responsible and mature work attitude
  • Possess full Working Rights within Australia
  • Hold an Australian Drivers License

All appointments are made subject to the required security screening including National Criminal History, NDIS Worker Screening checks and an immunisation status appropriate to the role.
