The Role - Group Lead Mechanical Engineer

Advitech is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer for the position of Group Lead - Mechanical. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading business development and client relationships, managing invoicing and budgets, and delivering technical output. The role requires the Group Lead to engage in the activities of the Leadership Team and assist the Principal Engineer to develop and implement strategies to support both business growth and professional development of the mechanical engineering team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, including prior consulting experience. This is your opportunity to use your project and commercial management skills to take responsibility for business development and project performance across the Mechanical Group.

Some of the key responsibilities for this Group Lead - Mechanical role include:

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, undertake, complete and ensure delivery of nominated Mechanical Group projects to a high technical standard in accordance with legislative requirements, relevant standards, client expectations and Advitech’s IMS.
  • Engage with clients to understand and develop and/or implement solutions for their business and technical challenges, with within the relevant client sector with emphasis on Mechanical.
  • Support continuous professional development of Mechanical Group staff in accordance with agreed ECDs plan and Advitech training budgets.
  • Lead and manage nominated projects from conception to completion (primarily but not necessarily Mechanical projects).
  • Provide information to support monthly project performance reviews, organise Mechanical Group staff to provide required information to allow reviews to be undertaken in an effective manner and ensure that invoicing of Mechanical work and deliverables is undertaken in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Work with the Principal Engineer to prepare a growth-focused strategic plan for the Mechanical Group and oversee its implementation.
  • Support Mechanical Group staff wellbeing and ensure a safe working environment by demonstrating leadership in relation to work health and safety matters and discussing safety matters during regular Mechanical Group and other Advitech and Emergent Group leadership meetings (as necessary).


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will meet the following essential criteria:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) qualified by EA with an eligibility to obtain RPEQ & RPEV if required.
  • At least 5 years demonstrated experience at a Group Lead level and within a consulting business.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying scientific and engineering principles to aid in the design or evaluation of Mechanical engineering projects.
  • People leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to build and develop high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in project management including budget, risk management and reporting, and the ability to manage a diverse range of conflicting priorities whilst delivering on key milestones and meeting deadlines.
  • High level computer literacy including MS Office applications and Mechanical data analytic software and reporting systems.
  • Excellent understanding and adherence to Mechanical legislative, technical and legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Unrestricted motor vehicle driver licence
  • NSW Construction White Card or willing to obtain

About the Position

Position Type: Permanent - Full Time
Reports To: Principal Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Advitech office, located in the Emergent Group Headquarters, Newcastle. Flexible work practices apply for this role.
