About the role We are currently seeking a Fleet Mechanic to work on our Surface and Underground Rigs, as well as associated equipment and vehicles. This work is primarily workshop based in Adelaide. We are looking for candidates who are driven, with a strong commitment to Health & Safety, and have a strong team focus. Extensive maintenance and hydraulic repairs experience is critical to the success of this role, with prior drilling experience advantageous. The successful candidate will work a standard working week Monday - Friday. Shifts will be 8 hours, dayshift only with the option of overtime when required.
Duties and responsibilities:
Maintenance, repairs and assembly of Boart Longyear’s Underground ‘LM’ 75/90/110 and Surface LF160 range of Drill Rigs including testing and commissioning, these are the latest electric over hydraulic drills leading the industry in exploration.
This position has the responsibility for performing the work on the company’s assets in a safe, planned and effective way.
As a key team member, the person needs to work collaboratively with Engineering, Operations and Fleet Administrators so that planning priorities are achieved and cost over-runs are minimal.
Completion of preventative maintenance tasks, records and commissioning procedures
Time and maintenance record keeping.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:
Extensive Maintenance and hydraulics experience is essential, with prior experience in drilling equipment advantageous.
Qualifications in related field i.e. Diesel or Mechanical Fitter certification.
General understanding of operation of diesel engines, pumps, generators and hydraulics.
Assemble/manufacture/modify general equipment as required.
Understanding of maintenance systems and procedures.
Able to read hydraulic and electrical schematics and interpret technical drawings.
Knowledge and understanding of electronic control systems.
Basic computing skills.
Basic First Aid knowledge.
