Our client is an Australian family-owned company that has been designing and manufacturing industry-leading food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical tubes for almost 90 years. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter/Machine Operator to become an integral part of their team at Smithfield.
Main Duties/Responsiblites:
- Take charge of guiding and training a small group of extruder operators towards excellence.
- Maintain efficient organization of tools and spare parts to ensure smooth operations.
- Master the operation and setup of extruder and Header machines for optimal performance.
- Execute preventive services and maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and safe stock tool management.
- Liaise effectively with the engineering and maintenance teams to streamline processes.
- Assist in the development and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
- Provide detailed reports to shift supervisors to keep them informed of operations.
- Adhere strictly to safety rules and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
- Implement and maintain 5S principles for a clean and efficient work environment.
Requirements

Trade qualified with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Fitter in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team

High attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills

Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to communicate effectively with the teamΒ

Experience in FMCG, Packaging or Pharmacetuical industries would be highly regarded
- Hands on, proactive and self-motivated
