Job Description Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter, to join Service Stream.

About the Role

Service Stream requires a Mechanical Fitter for onsite duties to join our growing company. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be involved with various site activities, including pipe fitting, basic machining and engineering tasks where required, while always ensuring tasks are compliant and executed in a timely manner, working from drawings to assemble equipment to the best quality possible.

About you:

  • An understanding of workshop equipment & tooling – both operational and maintenance functions, preparing work and setting up jobs to be manufactured.
  • The ability to read and understand drawing’s – various types are used from Isometric, schematic, 3D Model drawings etc.
  • Plan your daily tasks to suit the smooth operation of works.
  • Always Communicating with your supervisor and other staff.
  • Promote safety of the work processes through inspections, process improvement techniques issued by supervisors, mark-up drawings that do not comply to construction conditions.
  • Testing of pipework, Hydrotesting, torquing of pipework and supports etc
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is safe and serviceable for its required purpose through inspections, proper maintenance, correct usage, and replacement where necessary
  • Notify your team and Supervisor of any faulty equipment.
  • Continually assess methods of work and make suggestions and recommendations for improvement.

In addition to the above, we require an individual with: 

  • As a reference only the suitable candidate should have one of these listed below qualifications: Indentured Trade: Fitter & Turner & Machinist or Toolmaker Standards of Occupations or Completion of an approved certificate in industrial maintenance/pneumatics and passes in the TAFE School modules for Fitting and Machining / Engineering studies.
  • Heavy Industrial trade experience
  • Experience on shutdowns of Heavy Industrial plant, steel mill, power plant or Industrial Mining background.
  • Experience in hydrotesting
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise work 
  • Must hold a Construction Industry Card
  • Working at Heights/EWP
  • Knowledge about technical drawings such as Isometric Drawings, Schematic’s & P&ID’s, general basic construction plans (site & assembly types)
  • General manufacturing, Pipeline Construction and Assembly process experience
