The Role
The O&M electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment in our facility. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting electrical issues, and responding to emergency repairs to minimise downtime and ensure the continuous operation of the Battery Energy Storage System. The role is based on our site in Blyth but is not a FIFO role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with OEM requirements.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and replacements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, identifying the root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and breakdowns to minimise downtime and ensure the continuous operation of the plant.
- Collaborate with other team members to address complex electrical issues.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components, wiring, and equipment.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various electrical systems, including V Modules, inverters, weather stations, NCUβs and SPCβs, transformers, and control panels.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with relevant safety codes, regulations, and standards.
- Conduct safety assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential electrical hazards.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture within the organisation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of electrical systems, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Provide input for the development of maintenance procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid Australian work rights.
- Valid White Card.
- Valid Driving Licence.
- Valid electrician licence.
- Current LVR / CPR.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and controls.
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics.
- HV switching authority will be an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
