What's the role?

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join the well-established Qube team in Port Hedland. The primary role of the Diesel Mechanic is to undertake fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of company vehicles and machinery safely and efficiently. A suitable candidate will have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work under pressure and independently.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • Suitable Trade Qualification or Certification
  • Must have minimum 1 years’ qualified industry experience
  • Demonstrated working experience with heavy vehicles & heavy machinery (Kenworth, Volvo & Mack Prime Movers, side-tippers, bowl tippers, belly dumpers, Cats, Cummins etc.)
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months validity) – or ability to obtain one
  • Traffic History Report (within 3 months validity) – or ability to obtain one
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Must have prior experience in ports, heavy transport or mining environments
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment, with a proactive approach to task resolution to maintain a high quality of work
  • Strong analytical thinker with an ability to make concise and compelling decisions
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of work completed 
  • Have a positive attitude
