Critical Facilities Engineer (Controls/Mechanical)

As a member of the Critical Facilities Engineering team, your main responsibilities will include supervising and performing facilities engineering work. This includes tasks such as alarm response, fault finding, maintenance, repairs, and equipment modification related to controls, electrical, and mechanical systems. 

The role offers a great work/life balance, with Monday-Friday daytime hours and an evenly shared on-call roster (approximately 1 in 6 weeks) among the team. The vast majority of your time will be spent at Shenton Park. 

While we are specifically looking for a candidate with Controls/Mechanical expertise, our engineers work across various engineering disciplines and operate in a collaborative environment with a team-first mentality. While applicants should be specialists in their own discipline, they should also have a willingness to learn other disciplines over time. Initially, possessing a basic understanding to confidently triage incidents is . 

This role provides an opportunity to work in a diverse and collaborative environment, where you will have the chance to expand your knowledge and skills across different engineering disciplines. 

Key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Performing preventative maintenance using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) / Maximo. 

  • Engaging specialist vendors to complete preventative maintenance and managing them while on-site. 

  • Producing Method of Procedures (MOPs) for critical preventive and corrective maintenance, utilizing site knowledge and written skills. 

  • Raising Change Requests (CR) to notify customers of critical maintenance, including risk assessments and clear communication. 

  • Responding to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and other breakdowns. 

  • Troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis (RCA) of breakdowns. 

  • Performing site rounds and routine inspections. 

  • Driving and implementing projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability, as well as assisting in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new data centers. 

  • Updating and maintaining a comprehensive spare parts inventory. 

  • Working closely and collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and project management teams. 

 

Qualifications, skills, and attributes for the role: 

  • Trade certification in Electrical/Mechanical (HVAC) or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering 

  • Desire and ability to work cohesively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team 

  • Sound knowledge of critical infrastructure equipment such as UPS, ATS, STS, generators, CRAH, chillers, BMS, PLC, etc. 

  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and CAD. 

  • Excellent written and spoken interpersonal communication skills 

  • Experience in data centers or similar mission-critical environments will be highly regarded.
