The Opportunity

This role is an exciting temporary opportunity to work within the Plumbing and Gas Compliance teams on all aspects of compliance. These are high performing teams responsible for delivery of risk-based compliance inspection activities across the Building and Construction sector in NSW.

The team primarily operates under delegation and legislative provisions of the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017, Home Building Act 1989 and Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011 and associated regulations.

Key requirements:

  • Where an offence has been committed, take appropriate compliance action ranging from warnings, penalty infringement notices or consideration of formal disciplinary action.
  • Prepare complex briefings and escalate instances of recidivist behaviour for consideration of prosecution or other proceedings being commenced.
  • Ability to coordinate and mentor inspectors on compliance initiatives and outcomes.
  • Gather and analyse information from inspection data and staff into trends in plumbing practises and emerging compliance issues and provide regular reports to the Manager
  • Ability to foster an environment that encourages continued learning and development.

Essential requirements:

  • Current NSW Drivers licence.

Desirable requirements:

  • Knowledge of the functions in a compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations or similar qualification.
