The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented CAM Programmer/CNC Machinist with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, preferably with experience in advanced manufacturing within the aerospace industry. With a passion for technology, automation and digital production, you’ll be regularly interfacing with our CAM Programmers and Machinists as HeliMods continues its evolution of advanced manufacturing.

In your role you will be responsible for:

  • Generating timely, high quality CAM data/NC code to suit HeliMods’ expanding range of machines (including 3 and 5+ axis HAAS machines).
  • Providing direct assistance to production team as required; operating CNC machines, assisting with QC processes and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing review and feedback on designs in relation to their manufacturability.
  • Creating estimates of time required to generate CAM data in support of both internal projects and “Build-to-Blueprint” external manufacturing jobs.
  • Performing checking and providing feedback on CAM data generated by others in the team.
  • Championing best practice and continuous improvement initiatives within CAD/CAM and machining to optimise efficiency and quality.
  • Mentoring and sharing your knowledge with the broader team to improve awareness of ‘design for manufacture’ principles.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Engineering bachelor’s degree (or similar), OR Industry/Trade-level qualification.
  • 3+ years’ experience using advanced 3D CAM software – preferably Siemens NX CAM.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the aerospace, automotive, or other high precision industry desirable.
  • 3+ years’ operating machines; including tooling and work holding – HAAS machines would be highly regarded
  • Experience in proving CAM, 1st of type production, and integrating with an engineering team.
