HBT Services QLD is responsible for the overhauls of longwall machinery across QLD and operates under two (2) plants, being Overhauls and Gearbox repairs.

About the role:

A Boilermaker is responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of underground mining equipment and related systems. This role requires expertise in welding, cutting, and metalwork, and involves working with various types of metals and materials to ensure that these systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

The Boilermaker will be responsible for:

• Demonstrated experience in boiler making, welding and fabrication within a workshop environment.

• Be involved in risk assessment, development of job procedures and ensure Take 5’s are filled out prior to commencing each job task.

• Maintenance of documentation, service records, equipment, tools, and work areas as per procedures.

• Understand and apply procedures relating to safety and general work principles including the identification and reporting of hazards and incidents.

• PPE compliance and respect for safety equipment at all times.

• Good housekeeping and safe working habits are to be displayed at all times.

• Ensure that all work is kept to a high quality.

• Ensure quality assurance practices as required by the project are adhered to at all times.

• Employee to be first-in-line for quality control of own work.

• Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Remuneration:

• Terms and Conditions of Employment are as per the HBT Queensland Enterprise Agreement 2024

• $60.24/Hour Casual (Boilermaker Classification)

• Overtime available

• 36-hour ordinary hours

• Day shift (M-T) 6:00am-2:00pm & (F) 6:00am - 12:00pm

• EA increases in 2026 and 2027

• Afternoon Shift Allowance of 15%

• Night Shift Allowance of 25%

• Weekend work shall be paid at double time for all hours

About You:

• Proven experience as a Boilermaker

• Trade Certificate (Cert III Engineering Fabrication Trade)

• Proficiency in welding, cutting, and metalworking techniques.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

• HRWL is highly desirable.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication skills and customer service orientation.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
