MRAEL in partnership with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) are seeking candidates to undertake a 1st year Auto Electrical Apprenticeship, Commencing January 2026.
Working on a mine site with a strong focus on creating a safe work environment where employees are enabled to reach their full potential, where they feel strongly connected to their values and objectives, and where the skills and abilities of their people are a key differentiator of success.
Successful candidates will follow a structured and industry-specific training plan, learning on the job from experts in their field whilst completing a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology. This apprenticeship begins with a focus on Auto Electrical work, but applicants must have a genuine interest in progressing to Mobile Plant Technology as part of their long-term development. Our ideal candidate is someone who sees this as their first step toward becoming a dual-skilled tradesman.

Who are we seeking?
In the fixed-term position, the successful candidate will show an ability to work safely in a mining environment, demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, be motivated to learn and develop new skills, and have the ability to work constructively within a team.
The positions will be offered on a 7/7 roster arrangement. Local residents are encouraged to apply.
Both mature age applicants and students currently completing Year 12 are welcome to apply. If Year 12 has already been completed, the minimum requirement is that candidates achieved a Pass in Pre-vocational English and Mathematics or possess equivalent qualifications.
Female and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Location:
Moranbah based mine site – Bowen Basin DIDO and FIFO available.
DIDO (Drive-in-Drive-out) applicants must reside within a 4-hour commuting distance of Moranbah.
FIFO (Fly-in-Fly-out) applicants are expected to reside within 90 minutes or a 100kn radius from the primary point of origin (Brisbane or Cairns airport) to meet the fit for work requirements.
