Bengalla - Mechanical Engineer

The Opportunity

Due to operational growth, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer working a Monday-Friday dayshift roster. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Superintendent, the Mechanical Engineers primary function is to provide engineering support to the Bengalla mine site as a member of the engineering team.

Responsibilities

The role of the Mechanical Engineer includes the following:

• Providing support to Bengalla teams to ensure safe operation of plant and equipment
• Develop and maintain effective networks through collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines
• Actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices and compliance with the site safety management system
• Lead or participate in safety investigations, report preparation and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
• Provide technical engineering assistance to operational/maintenance teams
• Provide guidance / review regarding risk and implementation of controls for engineering changes to plant
• Manage engineering projects
• Provide engineering guidance and support regarding mechanical reliability for the life cycle of equipment and plant

Qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Degree, Associate Degree, or Advanced Diploma
• Good understanding of the technical aspects related to machines and machine safety at mines
• Good understanding of WHS legislation, particularly relating to mines
• Familiarity with core standards relevant to equipment and installations in mines
• Good leadership skills
• Good task management skills
• Effective communication skills
