We're seeking an Assistant Manager with expertise in plumbing, storage tanks, and drainage systems to join our Brookvale location.
Job Summary
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Senior/Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a store, warehouse or site, ensuring operational and organisational standards are maintained, and customer needs and assigned sales goals are met. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for the Store in the absence of the Senior/Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the Senior/Store Manager in all efforts to improve and sustain operational efficiency and profitability, working closely with any other Assistant Store Managers or Department Managers
- Delivers excellent service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, and greets/assists customers as necessary when other staff members are busy
- Responds to customer complaints and concerns in a professional manner
- Facilitates customer introduction to in-store sales specialists to promote personalised service
- Coaches and supports other team members and any assigned staff
- Assists in maintaining and monitoring local inventory
- Assists in maintaining and monitoring local security
- Ensures the store, warehouse or site is clean, safe, and presentable for customers, conducting regular audits of the physical and practical condition of the location to ensure quality
- Tracks and responds to TQM (Total Quality Management) items identified for the location
- Generates and reviews daily sales reports, and processes sales when necessary
- Assists the Senior/Store Manager in hiring, motivating, training, and performance managing of staff
- Motivates the sales associate team (counter and floor staff) to meet sales objectives by training and mentoring staff
- Liaises with the local external sales team in order to:
⎯ Facilitate quotes and orders for customers
⎯ Ensure quality, personalised service for each customer
- Provides clear and ongoing communication to customers, handling queries and complaints in a polite and helpful manner
- Communicates constantly with other stores and departments within the company to ensure that delivery operations are integrated with other business functions
- Fosters health, safety and well-being within the store, and understands and acts in accordance with all health and safety requirements; encourages good WHS practices
- Leads, trains, and develops direct reports to reach their full potential and achieve mutual goals aligned with the vision; mentors team. Builds commitment by convincing others and winning them to a point of view
- Always ensures team presentation (dress and appearance) of a high standard
- Completes performance reviews for assigned team members at least annually; reviews leave requests to ensure continuity of service around team member absences

- May be assigned specific responsibilities related to:
⎯ Interacting with the public via social media and maintaining the Store’s online presence
⎯ Movement of stock, including loading and use of forklifts
⎯ Start or end of day procedures
⎯ Onboarding and training of new staff
⎯ Specific department management, including product or category management
- Takes responsibility for own performance and development; acts with integrity. Demonstrates a level of urgency in getting things done, and willingness to meet expectations
- Recommends ways to minimise expenditure and waste
Key Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a retail environment
- At least 1 years’ experience in a supervisory role; 2+ years desirable (proven leader)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
- Customer service-oriented with in-depth knowledge of basic business management processes
- Hardware product knowledge essential
- Demonstrated team leadership and customer management abilities
- Competent in use of MS suite highly desirable with good written and verbal communication skills
- Team-player who is self-motivated and driven
