Apprenticeship – Blaster/Painters (Automotive)

Support Vehicles Australia Pty Ltd (SVA) is a leading Design and Manufacture organisation supplying bespoke heavy equipment to key clients primarily in the Mining Industry within Western Australia.

An opportunity is available in our Paint/Blast Workshop for a Trades Assistant / Apprenticeship in a permanent full-time capacity at our Bassendean facility. The successful candidate will enjoy secure employment with a respected organization that produces high-quality products working on new equipment projects.

Mature Aged Apprentices also encouraged to apply.

First and Second year apprentices will be considered.

The ideal applicant will have a great work ethic and bring the following:

• Western Australian Certificate of Education with passes in English and Mathematics
• Pre- apprenticeship courses in Vehicle Body Painting will be highly regarded
• Tickets in Forklift, Working at Heights & Confined Space Entry an advantage
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Pass a pre employment medical and proven fitness for a physical role.
• Desire to learn, take direction and follow processes
• Positive Attitude
• The ability to work well within a team environment
• Good time management skills
• Positive attitude towards safety, quality and housekeeping

As part of your apprenticeship you will:

• Sign a 3 year Training Contract to gain a Trade Certificate in Fabrication (Surface Preparation)
• Attend TAFE to complete required units.
• Learn preparation of surfaces and application coatings
• Assist and learn paint preparation techniques
• Learn and assist with grit blasting and cleaning
• Contribute to cleaning and maintaining the workshop and equipment
• Gain an understanding of safety and quality in a paint workshop.

Working hours are Monday to Friday from 6am to 4.30pm, some Saturday work may be required.

Junior apprentice rates start from $20 per hour (flat rate), Mature age apprentice rates start from $30 per hour (flat rate).
