The opportunity

The Civil Construction Apprenticeship is the ideal opportunity for the right candidate to take the first steps in joining the industry! 

You’ll have the opportunity to work across our Construction, Roads, and Roadside & Drainage teams. Working alongside experts in their field who are passionate about the work they do. 

Not only will you gain invaluable on the job work experience from the team, you will also undertake a Certificate III in Civil Construction.

Your Apprenticeship will see you gain experience working on new projects, rehabilitation projects, and maintenance – including road construction and maintenance, drainage construction and maintenance, concreting, road furniture and asphalting. You’ll learn to operate basic plant and equipment and have exposure to a variety of general manual labour activities. 

What does a career at PSC look like for me post-Apprenticeship?

Whilst we can’t guarantee a permanent position post-apprenticeship, this is what a career path could look like with a Certificate III behind you: 

  • Works Hand (labourer)
  • You could specialise as an Operator or a Multi-Skilled Operator
  • Or move into a leadership position such as a Team Assistant,
  • Or a Team Leader

This is a contract opportunity – working full-time working 38 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement such as a 4-day week or a 9-day fortnight + access to study leave to attend courses at your formal training provider during work hours

Base Hourly Range: $24.59 - $31.47 (T4 – T7) + 12% superannuation + $2,464 retention allowance

Under 18 year old's: $18.28 - $21.60 (T2 - T3) + 12% superannuation + $2,464 retention allowance

You'll be rotating across both of the Council depots located at Raymond Terrace and Nelson Bay.

  • Financial support in a paid role, including full payment for your studies
