AKD has a long-standing and successful Apprenticeship Program with over 70 apprentices in training across our business. Applications are now open for motivated, hands-on candidates to join our experienced and qualified team as Wood Machinist Apprentice at our Caboolture site.

What You’ll Learn

As an Apprentice Wood Machinist, you will complete a Certificate III in Wood Machining in 3-4 years and gain skills in:

• Operating & maintaining automated planers, moulders, and saws
• Sharpening, setting, and maintaining knives, saws, and cutting tools
• Alignment of machine centres to optimize performance
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting machine faults
• Optimizing timber recovery to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Routine machine maintenance to ensure peak performance

Our apprentices work in a hands-on, supportive learning environment, gaining experience across various parts of our business. This includes working on state-of-the-art equipment and multi-million-dollar projects.
