Apprentice Vehicle Body Builder

Duties include:


  • Learn to Weld, screw, rivet & bolt components together to form a finished product

  • Learn to Fabricate, form, and shap components

  • Learn to cut, shape and grind sheet metal to create panels.

  • Learn to attach axles, suspension assemblies, steering columns and brakes.

  • Learn to manufacture and assemble products

Apprentice Vehicle Painter:

Duties include:


  • Learn to remove rough spots on trailer panels

  • Learn to sand surfaces by hand and with power sanders

  • Learn to mask areas not to be painted with tape and paper

  • Learn to colour match and mix paints to match paint shades, and selecting pre-mixed paint

  • Learn to applying primer and finishing coats using spray-guns, and sandingsurfaces between coats

  • Learn to touching up paintwork and apply polish to trailers

  • Learn to removing masking papers, and waxing and polishing finished paintwork

All Apprentices must:


  • Attending all Tafe classes and completing required units

  • Assisting the qualified tradesmen as directed

  • Use of workshop machinery & hand tools

  • Maintaining a safe working environment

  • Must be able to work as part of a team and be able to accept close supervision andinstruction.

  • Have a strong work ethic

  • Great attitude and genuine interest in the automotive industry

  • Must be highly motivated and ability to work in a team environment
