The Opportunity

We have a Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Machinist) Apprenticeship available for someone within our local community of Albury, on a full-time permanent basis. 

Your apprenticeship will consist of 2-4 years of both onsite work experience and formal classroom training. You will be an integral part of the team, learning from our highly skilled tradespeople. This position will give you a nationally recognised trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Machinist). After completion, you will be a qualified technician in your trade. APA will cover and provide all your: 

 

  • TAFE fees 

  • Tools and equipment 

  • Expenses for work travel 

  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Clothing 

 

This is a great entry into the Australia’s Energy future. 

 

 As an APA Apprentice you will: 

  • Perform a mixture of Mechanical Fitting and Pipeline works 

  • Liaise with landowners and contractors  

  • Dig up pipelines and open and close large valves  

  • Spend a lot of time driving between a various sites and compressors stations  

  • Proactively monitor the conditions of our assets, conducting maintenance where  

 

To be eligible to apply for our Apprenticeship program, you will be: 

  • Available to commence your career with APA in January 2025 

  • Ready to ask questions, work hard, listen, and learn from your mistakes 

  • Enjoy working outdoors and getting your hands dirty 

  • Able to listen carefully, follow directions in the interest of safety for yourself, the team, assets, and environment 

  • A year 12 school leaver or a mature applicant 

  • Able to work in confined spaces/ at heights 

  • Licensed to drive a motor vehicle 

  • Self-motivated 

  • A good communicator 

  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and developing your skills
