Earn while you learn! Gain hands-on experience as an Apprentice Greenkeeper while studying towards a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. This 3-year, full-time temporary role is based at Roma Street Parkland, where you’ll work alongside our qualified Greenkeepers within our Horticulture team.

We deliver integrated place management for Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands, Victoria Park/Barrambin, Anzac Square, Post Office Square and Newstead House on behalf of Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government. As the trusted custodians of these premier parklands and precincts, we acknowledge the responsibility to manage, enhance and enliven these beautiful places effectively and efficiently.

About the role

Our Greenkeeping Apprentice will:

  • Work a 9-day fortnight, primarily outdoors and hands-on, alongside our skilled Greenkeepers and Horticulturists.
  • Carry out turf maintenance, including application of chemicals and monitoring of irrigation.
  • Operate and maintain greenkeeping equipment.
  • General horticulture work.
  • Obtain industry licenses for specialised machinery and certificates as part of the industry requirements.
  • Complete approximately 3 theory and practical block units at TAFE each year throughout their apprenticeship.

About you

Our ideal candidate:

  • Will show passion and commitment with a demonstrated interest in greenkeeping.
  • Be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Hold a current manual drivers licence.
  • Successfully completed year 10 Math and English.
