We are seeking applications from candidates who are willing to take on an Apprenticeship as part of our ABON team based at Melbourne, Airport West. ABON develops and manufactures chain feeders, low speed sizers, rollerscreens and associated spare parts. With the ABON product brand, we supply productivity solutions to an ever-expanding range of industries operating in the broad sphere of minerals handling and minerals processing by-product activities
This role requires a dynamic person that is willing to learn and continuously develop their skills. You will be working towards completing an apprenticeship as a Fitter Machinist (Certificate III Mechanical Engineering – Mechanical Trade), whilst working within a professional, team environment. The apprentice must demonstrate that they are constantly learning, not only their trade, but developing their personal interaction skills within a professional, high pressure working environment.
Job Responsibilities
Performing engineering measurements
Apply welding principles
Use workshop machines for basic operations
Stripping, assessing, repairing, assembling, testing mechanical seals, couplings and associated equipment
Manual and CNC machine operation
Assisting with root cause analysis investigations
Providing troubleshooting advice and reliability solutions
Carry out mechanical cutting
Apply principles of occupational health and safety in the work environment
Compliance with responsibilities relating to the terms of the training contract as an apprentice (training, attendance & attaining of competencies)
Completion of all allocated work as part of the “on the job” training supplied by FLS
