National Electric Motor Services (NEMS) is a specialist service provider in electrical rotating machine repairs. We repair and maintain motors and generators for the mining and power generation sectors across Western Australia. Alongside our repairs and maintenance services, we also supply a range of new products that support our operations and clients.

As a growing business with a tight‑knit team of eight, we are committed to delivering high‑quality workmanship and fostering the development of future tradespeople.

We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Fitter/Machinist to join our workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience, work with experienced tradespeople, and build a long-term career in a specialised mechanical trade.

As an apprentice, your responsibilities will include:

• Disassembling electric motors and generators
• Performing mechanical inspections
• Cleaning and preparing parts
• Reassembling motors and generators
• Painting components and finished assemblies
• Preparing completed products for despatch
• Machining components using lathes, drills, and milling machines
• Assisting with dynamic balancing of rotating components
• General workshop and yard housekeeping duties

You will be a great fit if you are:

• Willing to learn from experienced staff and take direction
• Physically capable and comfortable getting hands on (and a bit dirty!)

We value attitude and willingness to learn just as much as prior experience.

Essential:

• Current driver’s licence
• Reliable transport

Desirable (but not essential):

• LF Forklift Licence
• DG Dogging Licence
• Pre-apprenticeship in fitting/machining
• HR Licence
