Interested in becoming a qualified butcher? The Dempster Street IGA are on the hunt for their next apprentice!

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be enrolled to complete a Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) while being supported by the employer and a nominated registered training organisation (RTO).

Butchers and smallgoods makers select, cut, prepare and arrange meats for sale and supply. They may advise customers on the suitability and uses of cuts of meat, as well as assist in menu planning and scheduling. They may need to operate machines to grind, mix and mincemeat, as well as operate sausage filling machine, smoking chambers and cooking vats.

This is a full-time apprenticeship.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This is an entry-level role that does not require any formal qualifications or prior experience. We are looking for someone that is interested in this industry and eager to learn the skills required to becoming qualified!

  • Great time management and reliable
  • Ability to get to work on-time
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be 15 years of age or over
  • Completed Year 10 (desirable)
