Balgownie Estate are seeking a reliable and hands on permanent Accommodation Handyperson / Maintenance Hand on a full-time basis (part time considered for the right candidate). The role will support a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on our stunning property in Yarra Glen in the northern end of the Yarra Valley.

Balgownie Estate is a luxury award-winning conference and event facility, including 70 accommodation suites, the stylish 1309 at Balgownie restaurant, Cellar Door, and endota spa.

The Role:

  • Perform repairs on equipment, fixtures, and furniture as needed, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Complete gardening tasks including mowing, weeding, trimming & spraying.
  • Ensure that facilities and public areas are clean, well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of facilities and fixtures.

About You:

  • Experience: in building, maintenance or handyperson role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in a range of maintenance tasks including building maintenance & gardening. Experience using various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills to identify and address maintenance issues efficiently. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently and creatively.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in performing maintenance tasks and inspections to ensure high standards of quality and safety. Notice and address minor issues before they become significant problems.
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing high-quality service to guests. Ability to handle guest requests and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  • Time Management: Efficient in prioritising and managing multiple maintenance tasks and responsibilities. Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative approach to working with other staff members and departments. Support and communicate effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals
  • Driver’s license
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
  • Have a reliable car to drive to and from Yarra Glen
  • Full working rights in Australia.
