About the opportunity
Myndshift Group supports the mining, civil construction and heavy engineering industries, partnering with leading organisations to deliver experienced personnel across Australia.
We are currently seeking experienced Underground Auto Electricians for underground hard-rock mining operations throughout Western Australia.
These roles suit trade-qualified auto electricians with proven underground experience who are confident diagnosing electrical faults, attending breakdowns and maintaining drills, loaders, trucks and ancillary mobile equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults across underground mining equipment.
- Complete scheduled maintenance, preventative servicing and breakdown repairs.
- Maintain electrical systems on development jumbos, production drills, boggers and underground trucks.
- Troubleshoot wiring, charging systems, starter motors, sensors, lighting and electronic controls.
- Diagnose CAN bus faults and interpret electrical schematics and OEM technical information.
- Assist with remote-control, automation and equipment communication systems where required.
- Complete electrical installations, component replacements and equipment inspections.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and support safe, reliable underground operations.
Experience and requirements - Australian-recognised automotive electrical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology.
- Preferably 3-5+ years of post-trade experience.
- Demonstrated underground hard-rock mining experience is essential.
- Experience maintaining Sandvik, Epiroc or CAT underground mining equipment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot control systems.
- Current Australian manual driver's licence.
- Automotive air-conditioning licence will be highly regarded.
- Experience with RCT remote-control systems, Sandvik AutoMine, CAN bus or equipment automation is advantageous.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and relevant site clearances.
Relevant equipment - Sandvik DD421, DD422i, DL422i and DL432i development and production drills.
- Sandvik LH517i and LH621i loaders and TH551i and TH663i underground trucks.
- Epiroc Boomer and Simba drills, Scooptram loaders and Minetruck equipment.
- CAT R2900 loaders and AD-series underground trucks.
- Underground integrated toolcarriers, service vehicles and ancillary equipment.
