Title: Temp Mechanic/ Electrician
Location: Rockdale, IL (Apollo Colors)
Shift: Monday-Thursday, 9:00pm to 7:00am
Pay: $34.55 – $37.54 (Depending on experience)
Overview: Layout and installation of conduit, wire, and electrical components. Experience with 480/220/120/24 volt systems. Knowledge of industrial computer systems and variable speed drives is preferred. Some formal education in electrical systems is desired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Upon the completion of electrical work inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as Fluke meters, amp meters, and meggers to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Read blueprints and follow a plan layout to install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on the job specifications and codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical and electrical failures.
- When necessary, help mechanic as needed in the repair and replacement of parts, and equipment.
- Monitor the state of input devices, such as sensors, switches, or light switches.
- Adhere to all NEC codes and don appropriate PPE per NFPA 70E with no exceptions.
- Above all, the employee must be safety conscious at all times, be acutely aware of their surroundings, know their limitations, and know when to ask for assistance.
Qualifications:
- Experience with 480V/3 Phase industrial power.
- The job is primarily Electrical, though the successful candidate will work with our Mechanics as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Comprehensive understanding of three phase electricity, 110, 220, 440, AC and DC current
Work Environment:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand or walk entirety of shift.
- Works in manufacturing environment as well as outdoors in all temperatures.
- Works from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
