Position: Temp to Hire Forklift Mechanic
Location: Rockdale, IL
Shift: Monday- Thursday, 2pm-12am
Pay: $34.55-$37.54 based on experience
Overview: In this position you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on forklift trucks, including inspecting for safety issues, diagnosing mechanical problems with hydraulics, electrical systems, and engines, replacing worn parts, and ensuring the proper functionality and safe operation of the forklift fleet within a warehouse or industrial setting.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Repair sit down, propane forklift, floor scrubbers and scissor lifts.
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical equipment in the plants.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC and computer-based control systems.
- Assemble and install conduits, outlets, panels, junction boxes, etc.
- Diagnose and correct production equipment problems and coordinate machine downtime and repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled and as needed.
- Proactively communicate maintenance issues with other shifts to ensure continuity of operation.
- Oversee parts requisition ordering for the continued operation of the plant.
- Document activities, repairs, and related information into CMMS / logbooks.
- Maintain work area and tools in a clean, orderly, and safe condition for available use.
- Assist in training and guidance of apprentices as directed.
- Regularly attend required training evaluations and participate in establishing training requirements.
- Ensures equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are always safely stored before breaks, mealtimes, and end of shift.
Candidate Requirements: to be considered for this position, you MUST possess the following:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Demonstrated knowledge of VFDs, A/C and D/C motor controls, and combustion systems.
- Strong comprehension and critical thinking skills; able to read, write, and interpret written information in English.
- Demonstrated ability to operate required equipment.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to prioritize work and with competing timelines.
- Accurately perform essential math functions, including mental calculation of equations and fractions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and safe use of shop equipment and tools.
