As an Enerven Substation Electrical Apprentice, you will enjoy:

  • Hands-on experience: Work alongside and be mentored by qualified and experienced professionals committed to your development across a wide range of projects.
  • Career growth: Learn through an award-winning program designed to rotate you through a range of workgroups and/or projects to build the skills and experience that will set your career up for success.
  • Competitive remuneration: Earn above award rates (including for mature aged), plus allowances, overtime, and up to $900 towards your electricity bill — and that’s only the beginning.

The Opportunity

A four (4) year apprenticeship joining our team at our Direk depot, starting in February 2026.

An Enerven Substation Electrician works on the high-voltage infrastructure that keeps power flowing across the state. Instead of installing power points or wiring houses, you'll be working on the large-scale equipment (such as transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear and control systems) that controls and distributes electricity from power stations to the grid.

You will gain practical, hands-on experience working in substation construction and maintenance, renewable infrastructure construction, control systems installation and manufacture — all while completing a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.

You will be trained and supported by the best in the industry. The depot location is based at Direk, however, your days will mostly involve working on-site and in the field. There will be a significant amount of away work and travel required.

About You

This is an exciting time for our industry. We would love to be able to share this journey with someone who is committed, eager to learn and who has:

  • An enjoyment for a physical role working outdoors and being a part of a team
  • An unwavering commitment to safety
  • An appreciation for the volume of both practical and theoretical training involved in completing a trade-based qualification
  • An ability to accommodate periods of away work
  • A current driver’s licence (full or provisional)
  • Met the eligibility criteria on the website

We’re looking forward to getting to know you. Our recruitment process will include online aptitude tests, interviews (both video and in person), heights and dexterity tests, and comprehensive pre-employment checks. We’ll communicate each stage with you as we work through it together.

We respect that applications take time and will respond to every applicant regarding the outcome of their application.
